Traditionally hung over a place where a person sleeps and where the morning light can hit it, dream catchers are believed to protect the sleeper from negative or bad dreams. While a person is asleep all dreams enter the dream catcher with the good dreams slipping through the center hole then drifting down the feathers or beaded strands to the sleeping person. Bad dreams become caught in the webbing and are destroyed by the first rays of morning light.
